“How can I use technology to facilitate the achievement of eighth grade writing standards in Ohio?”

Entry: “Internet connectivity in educational settings provides opportunities for interactive exchange and collaboration between students living on other sides of town or the other side of the planet.” (Wesley A. Fryer, www.wtvi.com/teks/archive. “Skype in the Classroom.”)

Need: “How can I use technology to facilitate achievement of eighth grade writing standards in Ohio?” is a topic that needs to be research to show that technology will not hinder our students and their state test scores. They will in fact become more proficient through the many real world examples of writers, that are available, with a click of the mouse and that would other wise never been seen by our students.

Audience: My intended audience is decision makers that are connected to the education of our children including, but not limited to, the Board of Education members, administration, teachers, and parents.

Closure: I plan to find research that shows success with educators using technology in their classrooms. I would also like to include barriers that educators had to find ways around to assure my audience that the road work has already been lain and all that is needed of our schools is to merely pay the toll of training, find a seat, and enjoy the ride on the informational highway.
